Back in July, Microsoft pushed out a new application for the Android ecosystem called the Arrow Launcher (Beta). As the name indicates, this is a functional launcher for Android devices.

The launcher is pretty straightforward and works with a pair of lists displayed on the home screen which show the most recent and most frequently used apps. Swiping up from the bottom of the display will bring up a customizable list of quick-access apps, while swiping to the right brings up a simple Notes & Reminders page.

Well, this week, Microsoft pushed out an update for its Android Arrow Launcher (as seen at Microsoft News). One of the most visible changes you will witness after the update is obviously the new logo, which looks pretty sleek as you can see for yourself in the screenshots below.

And as with any other update, Microsoft has added a bunch of improvements, like a new transparent navigation bar, which makes everything look so much better. Now, let’s go through the new features you should expect to encounter after the update.

Here's what's new in Microsoft's Arrow Launcher

The recent and newly installed apps now reside in the All Apps page. As users have requested, Microsoft turned the Apps page into a dedicated page that houses the top apps and moved the recent section to the All Apps page.

Moving along, the number of recent contacts on the People page has been increased from 1 to 3. The Redmond giant has also been working to improve the first-run experience by adding an algorithm to help users pick top apps and top people better.

The new update also brings reduced crashes by 30% and improves battery usage by 20%.

The new Arrow Launcher update is dubbed Beta 4, so you have to keep in mind that the app continues to be in beta. To get the latest version of the software, you will need to download the APK and install it on your phone.
