New versions now available in the Google Play Store

Microsoft is really keen on improving its Android and iOS apps, and today the company has released updates for two of its applications available in the Google Play Store.

Microsoft Arrow Launcher and OneDrive have both received new improvements today, so if you’re on Android and using any of these two, you’d better fire up the store and update them right now.

What’s new in Microsoft Launcher version 1.4?

First of all, the launcher. It’s a well-known fact that Android users love customizations, and Microsoft’s Arrow Launcher offers a pretty neat way to personalize the stock Android experience, so every single update is quite important for many users out there.

So the new version of Microsoft Launcher tries to refine this experience by adding options to hide/unpin the page headers, but also to hide the SMS preview from the People and Recent page in Settings. This is quite an important addition, given the fact that many users didn’t want a preview of the text messages to show up on the lock screen, and Microsoft claims that this feature has been specifically implemented thanks to received feedback.

Additionally, the app drawer has been updated to separate apps and widgets, which, according to the company, should lead to a cleaner and faster experience with the app. And truth be told, it does make sense to separate the two because having them together makes it difficult for those who aren’t yet used to the app to figure out which one is which.

And last but not least, Arrow Launcher is now faster and uses less memory on all Android devices, or at least, that’s what Microsoft promises.

OneDrive 4.2 release notes

In the case of OneDrive for Android, the new update brings improved scrolling in photos, but the company hasn’t provided any details on how exactly it did that. Additionally, the sharing sheet has received new tweaks to make sending photos or documents faster.

Microsoft says that more cool features would be added in future OneDrive updates, but for the moment, nothing specific has been provided. Users are anyway recommended to update to the latest versions not only for the new features but also for the bug fixes and improvements they bring.
