Microsoft has just announced the Windows 10 IoT Starter Kit that's supposed to let you build your own smart devices using the company's new operating system, a Raspberry Pi 2 and all the electronic parts, sensors, and wires that you might need

Windows 10 IoT has a tremendous opportunity to change the world, and using the power of a Pi 2, the operating system can transform any regular gadget into a smart one, giving capabilities that you've never thought are possible in our age.

For example, Windows 10 IoT can be used to build your own weather station, a device that measures light intensity, or if you feel adventurous, a personal robot that can be controlled with a USB joystick.

The Starter Kit announced by Microsoft today contains all the parts you need to build any of these, so it's really an awesome pack that everyone interested in exploring the IoT world should have.

“The kit includes a compatible set of sensors, electronic parts, wires, and cables that have been verified to work with Windows 10 IoT Core. It also has an SD card preloaded with Windows 10 IoT Core meaning you can start right away. The kit comes with getting started instructions and sample code for projects that you can make,” Microsoft explains.

Also available without a Raspberry Pi 2

Unfortunately, the kit is already out of stock only a few minutes after the original announcement, but once new units arrive, you should be able to purchase one for $114.95 or at a discounted price if you buy more than 10.

The pack also includes a Raspberry Pi 2, but if you choose to purchase the kit with the development board, the price drops to $39.99.

Below you can find the full package contents and all the included parts that can be used to build your own smart devices.
