Redmond finally confirms event for late October

Microsoft has recently announced an October 26 event where the company will show “what’s next for Windows 10,” according to an official teaser posted on its website.

With the tagline “Imagine what you’ll do,” the event is likely to host the introduction of the all-new Surface PC and new accessories, such as the Surface Keyboard and the Surface Mouse.

As compared to the previous years, Microsoft is trying a different approach this time, and the October 26 event will also witness the debut of devices manufactured by partners.

Previously, Microsoft’s October conferences were entirely focused on its own products, such as the Surface lineup, the Band smart wristband, and Lumia phones - last year, for instance, the firm took the wraps off the Surface Book, the Surface Pro 4, the Band 2, and Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

No other Surface products this October

As a result, although the Surface All-in-One PC will be the star of the show, expect some other devices to see daylight as well, all of them developed by partners. Dell and HP are likely to attend the conference with their own models too.

What’s also very important is that Microsoft won’t introduce the Surface Pro 5 or the Surface Book 2 this October, with the company believed to be planning an early 2017 unveiling for the new generations. Details have not yet been confirmed, but it looks like the October 26 event will be centered on the Surface PC, so Microsoft wants this product to receive all the attention.

As far as the Band wearable is concerned, rumors have it that the third-generation has already been discontinued and now the future of the series is uncertain. It looks like Microsoft’s experiment to bring Windows 10 IoT on the Band failed, so the company abandoned the project entirely, with sources now hinting that the Band 2 is pulled from stores with no plans for a third generation whatsoever.
