Fast rings might get them in just a few days

Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has confirmed on Twitter that the company is already testing some very good release candidates for Windows 10 and has indicated that the developing team is looking at this week as a possible launch date.

While Aul hasn’t specifically mentioned whether these builds are aimed at PCs and mobile, the company is most likely targeting both platforms, as Microsoft is now trying to continue development of the two simultaneously.

“We have a couple of builds that are looking good in internal rings. It's possible we'll see them later this week to Fast,” Aul explains.

Windows 10 Threshold 2

Details are very vague right now, but it’s possible that these new builds prepared by Microsoft for the Windows Insider program are actually the final versions of Windows 10 Threshold 2, the next big update coming for RTM users sometime this month.

A company support engineer has revealed that Threshold 2 is scheduled to launch on November 10, which kind of makes sense, given the fact that this is the date when Microsoft is set to release this month’s Patch Tuesday updates and improvements for its operating system.

Originally, Threshold 2 was projected to launch in early November, but given the fact that the company wanted insiders to try it out first, it decided to hold back the release for a few more days. Now the build coming this week could actually be the Threshold 2 that everyone’s expecting, with the public launch to take place shortly after that if no major bug is found.

Windows 10 Threshold 2 will include changes that have already been around for a while in preview builds, such as colored title bars, a messaging app with Skype integration, new Edge features, and certain improvements to the Start menu supposed to refine the overall experience on the desktop.

Threshold 2 will ship as a cumulative update, so look for it in Windows Update once Microsoft pushes the go-ahead button.
