“We are working hard to get a build out this week”

It’s been a while since Microsoft released the latest Windows 10 Mobile build for insiders, and that previous version was only aimed at those enrolled in the fast ring, so it’s no secret that users who opted for the slow channel and still running 10166 feel like they’re left behind.

But according to Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, a new build is very likely to be released soon, as internal testing is going according to plan and the new version could be ready as soon as this week.

“No new builds today, but we are trying very hard to get a build out this week. Will be working late nights,” Aul explains, adding that the “next build should be directly upgradeable.”

In case you’re wondering why they need to be “working late nights,” it’s because the launch of Windows 10 Mobile is projected to take place next month and the company still has a lot of work to do on the operating system.

There’s no confirmed release date for Windows 10 Mobile, which gives Microsoft some space to delay the launch a little bit, but the company clearly can’t afford bad publicity in case it has to push the debut of its mobile OS for a longer period of time.

Faster release cadence

What’s more, Microsoft executives previously promised to release Windows 10 Mobile faster than before once the PC version got the green light, but only one new build has actually got to see daylight after July 29.

Redmond has already said that Windows 10 Mobile is almost feature complete, so the next builds would be mostly aimed at fixing bugs and improving performance, but the more time needed to provide testers with updates, the bigger the frustration of those who discovered critical bugs in the OS.

Microsoft doesn’t release new Windows 10 builds on weekends, on Mondays and Fridays, so the new build is very likely to be pushed to users either on Wednesday or on Thursday.
