14 DAY TRIAL // Clean-installing Windows 10 is a thing that many users, especially insiders, turn to every once in a while to make sure that the operating system is in tip-top shape, and this is one of the reasons the company ships new ISOs every time a new build hits the slow ring.
The whole process implies using a USB flash pen, a disc, or any other external media to run the installer on a PC, but Microsoft is currently working on simplifying everything and making it a bit faster.
First released to insiders, then to everyone else
In a post today, Jason, a program manager who works on the Windows Insider Engineering team at Microsoft, reveals that a new way to clean-install Windows 10 is currently in the works and should be released to insiders very soon. No other details have been provided, though, but it’s expected that this new tool would be included in the next Windows 10 build shipping this week.
“Hello Windows Insiders! Want a simple and easy way to start fresh with a clean installation of Windows? Looking for an easy way to do this? We’re working on a tool to make this possible,” Jason announced this weekend.
“Final testing and validation is underway and we will want your feedback once it is ready to go! Stay tuned for additional information as we work through the finishing touches. And as always, thank you for being Windows Insiders!”
The next Windows 10 build is expected to arrive this week and could include this new functionality, but as far as retail users are concerned, the new clean install feature is likely to land in the Anniversary Update due in July.
Microsoft first wants to test this feature with help from insiders before releasing it to everyone in the summer, so make sure you send feedback and bugs to the company should you discover any.
