Ever since it took over Mojang, Microsoft has been continuously looking into ways to bring Minecraft on more of its platforms, and now that Windows 10 is just around the corner, it has the best opportunity to do that.

So today, the company announced Minecraft for Windows 10, a new version of the game specifically developed to run on the upcoming operating system and feature the same Creative and Survival modes, as well as multiplayer support (just like all the other versions).

The new release is called Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and will be available starting July 29, the same day when Microsoft launches Windows 10. Microsoft says that it's not sure how long the work on beta is going to take, but says that just like Windows 10, the game will be improved based on users' feedback, so if you'd like to see anything changed in future builds, just make yourself heard.

Although a beta, the game is available for $10 (7.3 Euro) in the store for new players, while those who have already purchased the PC edition of Minecraft can get it without paying a single cent.

Pocket Edition features included

“Just like the first release of Minecraft all those years ago, this version will develop and evolve over time with the help of your feedback. That’s why it has “Beta” in the title – because it’s not quite finished, and will become even more fun over time. Just like the other versions of Minecraft, all future updates will be free. We spoil you. We really do,” Mojang said in an announcement today.

The Windows 10 version of the game comes with features that are already available in the Pocket Edition, but also with some new ones that you can find in the box after the jump. For example, in Windows 10 Edition Beta you can craft, create, and explore online with up to seven friends, either though local multiplayer or Xbox Live.

You will also be allowed to play online or local multiplayer with other Pocket Edition players, but only when an update will be released very soon free for all users.
