Redmond keeps teasing some mind-blowing news for BUILD

If you’re a Microsoft enthusiast, you've probably heard that something “mind-blowing” is coming for Windows users, but until now, there has been absolutely zero information about what this exciting announcement is all about.

But this doesn’t stop the software giant from teasing us once again in anticipation of the BUILD 2016 event, as the company has published the official agenda of the conference and revealed that “something awesome” is coming on day 1.

Once again, no other details have been provided, but it appears that the new features will be aimed at Windows 10 users.

Previous teasers

Earlier this month, Rich Turner, Senior Program Manager on the Windows team, posted a short tweet to say that he got to “play with the new Windows 10 features and you are all gonna FREAK Out when you see this.”

Later the same day, Scott Hanselman, Principal Program Manager and Community Architect on the Azure Application Platform and Tools group, also posted a message to add that “these features (I know what this is because I'm helping) were going to CHANGE EVERYTHING. No joke. You can't even.”

Unsurprisingly, Hanselman is one of the speakers listed on Microsoft’s Channel 9 website for this session, alongside Russ Alexander, Ben Armstrong, and Mike Harsh.

MSPU has dug into details and discovered that Russ Alexander was one of the engineers involved in the work for the now-discontinued Project Astoria supposed to bring us Android apps on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.

There’s no evidence at this point that Project Astoria might be brought back to life, but this would undoubtedly be fantastic news for the future of Windows 10, as it could tackle the lack of apps once and for all. Microsoft has, however, stated that full focus is now on Project Islandwood that helps bring iOS apps on Windows, so our only option right now is to wait and see what this craze is all about.
