Microsoft has provided updated figures on Windows 10 adoption, revealing that more than 300 million people use the operating system every day for approximately 3.5 hours.

Corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi has explained in a recent interview that adoption of Windows 10 is advancing well, pointing out that although the operating system has recorded more than 400 million installs, there are 300 million active daily users.

“Windows 10 has been doing great. It’s been many months since we reported we had 400 million monthly active users, but 300 million+ use it every day for 3 and a half hours. It’s the fastest adoption in corporation we’ve ever seen, and we’re seeing great deployment on that. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the progress on Windows,” Mehdi said.

No new adoption figures

Microsoft hasn’t provided any new figures on Windows 10 adoption, and the most recent numbers were released in September when the operating system was installed on more than 400 million devices. Without a doubt, these numbers improved substantially since then, but Microsoft remains tight-lipped for the time being.

The recent release of the Creators Update is also expected to increase the pace of the Windows 10 migration, with many enterprises holding back the transition to the new operating system until one or two major OS updates are shipped.

Microsoft is now making the Creators Update available to systems across the world via Windows Update in stages, but users can also perform the upgrade manually using the Windows Update Assistant. This is a method that the company itself does not recommend for beginners, mostly because some compatibility issues might be experienced, in the end affecting the OS performance.

It goes without saying that Windows 10 adoption is likely to increase in the coming months, and third-party data puts it at over 25 percent market share, while Windows 7 still leads the pack with approximately 48 percent.
