Major handset makers like Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola have major issues competing on the Indian smartphones market, especially at low tier.

The prices imposed by native OEMs such as Micromax, Karbonn, Intex and others, are too low to bring the major companies too much profit.

And with the launch of Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus, things will be even more complicated considering the smartphone's specs and price tag.

For those out of the loop, Micromax's new Canvas Spark 2 Plus is now available for purchase in India for just Rs 3,900, which is about $60 or €55.

Aside from the low price, the main selling point of the Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus is the fact that it ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. On top of that, the smartphone comes with more than decent specs for the price you pay.

Minimum specs to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow

It sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports a rather disappointing 854 x 480 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, there's a decent 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Speaking of which, Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus offers both 3G HSPA+ and dual-SIM support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, FM Radio and GPS with AGPS.

Micromax confirmed the smartphone drains energy from a 2,000 mAh battery, but the company has yet to rate it for standby and talk time.

It's also worth mentioning that Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus is exclusively available for purchase via Snapdeal in both Copper Metallic Grey and Champagne Gold color options.
