One of the most prolific smartphone makers in India, Micromax has just announced the upcoming availability of two new devices: Canvas Selfie 2 and Canvas Selfie 3.

Having launched Canvas Selfie Lens about two months ago, it looks like Micromax believes its new family of smartphones could become very popular among Android fans in India.

According to a new report, Micromax Canvas Selfie 2 and Canvas Selfie 3 will be available in India by the end of August, both online and offline.

Micromax confirmed that the Canvas Selfie 2 will be available from August 22 for Rs 5,999 ($90 / €83) outright. The smartphone will be available in black color only.

Next in line, the Canvas Selfie 3 should hit shelves in the last week of August, but Micromax has yet to announce how much it will cost. Still, we do know it will be available in Blue, Green, Purple, Sky Blue and Yellow color options.

Unlike the Canvas Selfie 2 buyers, those who purchase the Micromax Selfie 3 will also receive a Bluetooth-enabled selfie stick for free.

Quad-core CPUs, decent front-facing cameras and dual-SIM support

Moving on to specs, the Canvas Selfie 2 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

Micromax Canvas Selfie 2 packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and feature a 5-megapixel OmniVision rear-facing camera, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front with OmniVision OV5670 sensor.

On the other hand, Canvas Selfie 3 comes with a 4.8-inch AMOLED display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the inside, the smartphone packs a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

But the main selling point of the Canvas Selfie 3 should be the 8-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, couple with a similar 8-megapixel selfie camera in the front with Sony MX179 sensor.

Last but not least, both smartphones ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and offer dual-SIM support.
