The development team working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is announcing that the update that is supposed to arrive today for the video game is designed to introduce a range of new content while also activating the new Metal Gear Online 3 experience on all platforms.

Special Event FOB missions are being added to the tactical espionage title in order to give gamers a way to move sneakily into enemy installations to get access to materials and staff, without the risk of actually being attacked in return by the defender.

If the player is stealthy enough, the opposing player might never be notified of his actions.

Konami is also adding base insurance to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a paid service that allows gamers to get compensation for all losses during a designated time frame, although wounds, brig occupants, nuclear weapons and active defenders are not covered.

The title also offers more variety in the online side of Combat Deployment and gamers can shorten time using MB Coins, which are distributed for free but can also be bought.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will also feature Grade 7 equipment, and gamers will be able to get access to new weapons including the S1000 AIR-S, a non-lethal shotgun, HAIL MGR-4, a grenade launcher, and AM MRS-71 Rifle, a 7.62mm semi-automatic sniper rifle.

Other game features are also improved

MB Coins can also be used to reduce the time required to add new platforms to a base, making it more difficult for enemies to launch a successful infiltration.

Gamers will also be able to store more materials.

Konami adds, "Following the update, there will be certain improvements to the way data is displayed on menus such as the Controls and Results screens; for example, detailed breakdowns of espionage points earned or damage suffered due to your FOB being infiltrated. Look forward to a tighter, more refined FOB Mission experience."

The company is also delivering a range of other fixes and tweaks for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that are not mentioned in an official log.

Konami is planning to continue improving the core mechanics of the title in the coming months while expanding the associated Online experience.
