It can integrate with the current Messaging application

Microsoft has been talking about integrating Windows Phone messaging app with Skype for quite a while now.

It appears that the Redmond-based company was inspired by Google's move, as the search giant allows Hangouts to be used as main messaging app in Android devices.

Well, it looks like today is the day that Windows Phone users can try out the new Skype application that is meant to take over the Messaging application in your smartphone.

The application is called Messaging Skype Beta and, as the name suggests, it's still in beta. Once you download and install it, you will be prompted if you want it to integrate within the phone's Messaging app.

If yes, then you will receive notifications from Messaging Skype Beta rather than the current Messaging app inside your phone.

Even if you accept, both applications will remain installed on your phone, so you can uninstall Messaging Skype Beta at any time and restore the Messaging app.

The app allows users to reach friends who use iPhones, Androids, or even PCs

Along with Messaging Skype Beta, your smartphone will also download a second application name Skype Video Preview, which is supposed to offer a more basic Skype experience allowing users to take advantage of features like direct call with video.

Messaging Skype Beta seems to offer the same features as the standard Messaging app on the Windows Phones, but you will be able to switch between them when creating a new message.

Obviously, you might experience force close or many other issues while using Messaging Skype Beta. But Microsoft states “as this is a preview release, we ask that you help us make it better by telling us what’s great and what needs some work.”

You can now download Messaging Skype Beta for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. The application is only compatible with devices running Windows 10 Mobile.
