We reported the other day that Mesa 13.0.5 3D Graphics Library would be released this week, and it looks like Collabora's Emil Velikov announced it earlier this morning for all Linux gamers.

Mesa 13.0.5 is a maintenance update to the Mesa 13.0 stable series of the open source graphics stack used by default in numerous, if not all GNU/Linux distributions, providing gamers with powerful drivers for their AMD Radeon, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs. It comes approximately three weeks after the Mesa 13.0.4 update.

If you've read our previous report, you should be aware of the new improvements and bug fixes introduced in Mesa 13.0.5. However, if you didn't, we'd like to tell you now that this Mesa 13.0 point release fixes a GLVND (GL Vendor-Neutral Dispatch) library bug that should improve the gameplay of various games, including The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

"On the GLX/EGL front we have a GLVND fix for 'The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth' and other games, EGL Wayland buffer age rendering is back to normal," said Emil Velikov, Software Release Engineer at Collabora, in today's announcement. "Over a dozen of GLSL patches, addressing multiple CTS/dEQP tests."

r600 memory leak patched

Support for handling VK_INCOMPLETE to the vkGetPhysicalDeviceSurfacePresentModesKHR and vkGetPhysicalDeviceSurfaceFormatsKHR Vulkan WSI entry points, a compute shaders issue on NVE4 or later hardware, and a patch for an r600 memory leak are among other noteworthy improvements included in the Mesa 13.0.5 update.

Another important change is the fact that libdrm 2.4.66 or higher is now required by the Scons build system for compiling Mesa 13.0 with DRM support. You can study the full list of changes below as there are various other small bugfixes for the RadeonSI, VC4, Intel i965, Radeon RADV and Intel ANV Vulkan drivers.

If you like to compile software from sources, you can download Mesa 13.0.5 right now from our website. Otherwise, you should install it from the stable repositories of your favorite distro. It's not mentioned in the release notes, but this might just be one of the last maintenance updates for Mesa 13.0, so we recommend upgrading to Mesa 17.0.
