Chinese company Meizu has already started to send invitations to those attending Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair this year. It's unclear whether or not Meizu will launch any new smartphones at the event, but we do know for sure the company will unveil a new piece of technology.

The invitation sent by the company contains a clue on what Meizu might announce on February 28. A lightning sign that usually appears on a phone's display when it's charging is sketched on Meizu's invite, along with the tagline “Faster Than Ever.”

According to AndroidPure, information coming from China's Weibo claims Meizu will reveal an improved version of its own fast charging technology. mCharge 4.0 is expected to make its debut on February 28, but we don't rule out the possibility of Meizu announcing a new phone as well.

Regardless, it appears that the newest version of mCharge can fully charge a phone's battery in about 45 minutes, which is quite an achievement especially coming from a Chinese company.

Furthermore, the new technology is said to make use of the 9V/4A charger (36W). Basically, the phone will be charged at lower 9V voltage (down from 12V) but higher current.

It's hard to believe you will soon be able to charge your phone in less than an hour

All these numbers and leaked information look nice and dandy, but we won't know for sure if they are accurate until Meizu makes the new technology available for public testing.

However, since Meizu will be attending MWC 2017, there's a chance the new wireless charging technology will be demoed at the company's booth during the trade fair.

Obviously, mCharge 4.0 will be embedded inside Meizu's smartphones, which is why it would make sense for the Chinese OEM to introduce a new handset that benefits from the new technology.

Although 45 minutes for a full charge seems hard to believe, we doubt Meizu intends to mislead consumers with inflating numbers, so let's just wait and see what the Chinese company has in store for us.
