14 DAY TRIAL // Meizu is still big in China, even though companies like Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo seem to be doing much better in the world's larger smartphone market.
Nevertheless, Meizu hasn't given up on the fight, and come 2017 the Chinese company plans to launch a new powerful flagship smartphone that will probably be available in the Mainland only.
The phone is codenamed Legent, so we expect Meizu to use another market name when the device goes official. Until then, we're going to refer to it by this moniker, though.
Apparently, someone in China has decided that now would be a good time to leak the sketches of the Legent, along with the phone's main specifications.
The Legent isn't much different from Meizu's previous flagship smartphone, but that's not a bad thing.
When it comes to specs, the device is clearly positioned in the top tier, although we believe it will be much cheaper than other flagships coming from companies like Samsung, HTC, and Apple.
So, based on these sketches, it looks like Meizu Legent will be powered by an octa-core Exynos 8893 processor, coupled with no less than 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory.
It's unlikely that the phone will include microSD card slot, but the source that leaked the images claims the Legent will definitely feature UFS 2.1 flash storage technology, just like Samsung's Galaxy S8.
Furthermore, the Legent is expected to boast a large 5.7-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. From what we can tell from these sketches, Meizu will use a dual-edge curved display, not a flat one.
The back side will feature a 16-megapixel single lens camera, but that can be rotated to be used as a selfie camera as well. According to the report, the camera will feature a Sony IMX 4381 sensor.
Meizu Legent will ship with the Android 7.0 Nougat-based Flyme 6 operating system and will be powered by a 3,400 mAh battery.
