Meizu already launched its flagship smartphone, the Pro 5, a few months ago. However, it looks like the Chinese company has one more surprise in store for its fans.

A downsized version of Meizu Pro 5 is about to hit shelves in the next couple of weeks, at least that's what new evidence emerged online recently confirms.

The new device is likely to be called Meizu Pro 5 Mini and will pack completely different specs in comparison with the company's current flagship smartphone.

For example, instead of the 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, the Mini version will pack a much smaller 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with similar resolution.

Another major difference between the two Meizu smartphones is the chipset powering them. The Pro 5 is equipped with Samsung's Exynos 7420 chipset that's been included in other popular flagships like Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6.

A powerful device aimed at those who prefer to stay away from phablets

However, Meizu Pro 5 Mini is said to employ the services of a deca-core MediaTek MT6797 Helio X20 processor, which should provide quite a boost in performance.

Design-wise, the Pro 5 Mini will feature a metal build, which shouldn't be surprising since Meizu Pro 5 comes with a similar body.

Some of the specs mentioned earlier have already been confirmed by TENA, the Chinese regulatory commission, while others have been leaked via inside sources so they still require confirmation.

While we don't have any details on Meizu Pro 5 Mini's availability, rumor has it that the Chinese company will launch two variants based on storage amount: 32GB and 64GB.

The 32GB model is said to cost only $315 outright, while the 64GB will be more expensive at $395. Since the smartphone has already appeared at various certification entities and benchmark databases, we expect Meizu Pro 5 Mini to be officially unveiled very soon.
