It looks like Meizu is not dropping the Ubuntu Edition

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is the elephant in the room, and it looks like people don't want to talk about it. It's been pulled from sales, and it's virtually invisible on social media, but all hope is not yet lost.

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is a beautiful and powerful phone. In fact, it's the most powerful Ubuntu phone out there, and you can't really buy one. From the looks of it, Meizu only had a limited number of these devices ready, and once they got sold out, they disappeared from the market.

The phones were initially released for the Chinese market, but they also received a European release. Now, the European Meizu store has been closed, and if you try the official website, it says that it's only available in Europe. The end result is that you can't buy a Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition right now unless it's second hand. The fact that it's a real phone means that you won't find this edition too easily.

There is hope for Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition

Developers are no longer even mentioning the Q&A team from Meizu, and they seem to do the heavy lifting. There is some good news, however. The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition has been spotted in China, at an official conference, which means that Meizu hasn't given up on the idea.

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition has been spotted at the China Mobile's Partners Conference and it's been written about on cnmo.com, which is a Chinese news site. The article doesn't go into details and has nothing from Meizu, so we don't know if it's a one-off or if the company plans to refresh the stock for Europe.

With these new images, there is hope again that we'll be able to buy the Meizu MX4 or maybe that we'll get newer hardware. It's unlikely that we'll hear anything in the short time that's left of 2015, but we can only hope.
