14 DAY TRIAL // Even though smartwatch sales have dropped considerably throughout 2016, Google is trying to raise excitement for Android Wear 2.0 and the next-generation of wearables powered by the new operating system.
The Misfit Vapor is in no way meant to increase the hype around Android Wear 2.0, as the new smartwatch runs Misfit's proprietary operating system instead, which is both Android and iOS friendly.
As the title says, the Vapor is Misfit's first smartwatch to feature a touchscreen display. It comes with a 1.39-inch OLED screen that features 326ppi pixel density.
The smartwatch features a touch bezel that allows users to browse through watch faces, apps, as well as reply to notifications without having to cover up the screen.
Misfit's new smartwatch embeds stylish and sports elements in an attempt to offer the best of both worlds design-wise. It features a 44mm satin-finished stainless steel casing in either jet black or rose gold colors. Obviously, the strap is interchangeable, so users can make it suitable for any outfit.
On the inside, the smartwatch is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and 4GB of storage. It comes with Wi-Fi, microphones and Bluetooth connectivity.
No word on the battery capacity, but Misfit claims you won't get more than two days of use. It's also worth noting the Vapor will charge through a standard USB port by connecting a magnetic charging cradle.
The Vapor is not just a simple smartwatch, as Misfit added some advanced fitness tracking features as well. The wearable device includes accelerometer, altimeter, gyroscope, optical heart rate monitor, as well as built-in GPS. It's also waterproof and can withstand being submerged in 50 meters of water.
In case the Misfit Vapor is of any interest to you, the company has announced it will be available for purchase later this year for $199.
