We reported a couple of weeks ago about an upcoming device from the developers of the Android-x86-based Remix OS operating system for PCs and embedded devices, dubbed Remix IO.

Remix IO launched its Kickstarter campaign on October 20, 2016, with a pledged goal of $250,000 USD, which now strides towards $500,000 USD with 15 days to go at the moment of writing this article thanks to over 4,100 backers. And now, Jide Technology is proud to announce a new product tier, Remix IO+.

"What would happen if you ran Remix OS on top-of-the-line mobile hardware? Remix IO+ is the answer. Based on popular demand by our Kickstarter community, Remix IO+ represents the latest in hardware + software and is a TV box that’s built to last," reads the Kickstarter page of Remix IO.

Technical specifications and pricing of Remix IO+

As Remix IO+ promises to offer users a significant enhancement to almost all the hardware specs found in the Remix IO product, the device can be easily dubbed as a powerful Android PC for those who want to do more on their personal computers, as well as a gaming machine.

The device boasts Rockchip RK3399 Dual-Core A72 and Quad-Core A53 processors on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture running at 2.0GHz, a Mali T864 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32 GB of storage, two USB Type-A 3.0 ports, two USB Type-A 2.0 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port that outputs up to 4K@60fps video streams, and a VGA port.

Moreover, Remix IO+ ships with Dual-Band Wi-Fi 2.4GHz/5GHz 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 9V/2A power supply. The device supports DRM level 1 (Netflix HD, YouTube HD) and level 3 (Play Movies HD) video playback, as well as HDMI 5.1 pass-through.

Overall, Remix IO+ promises to be a very capable Android 7.0 Nougat-powered device that's more powerful than any existing TV box product, and it's perfect for home and office use.
