Apple unveiled today its world's first game subscription service for its iOS, macOS, and tvOS operating systems called Apple Arcade, which will be available worldwide beginning fall 2019.

After announcing the Apple News+ and Apple TV+ subscription services during the "It's Show Time" special event that took place earlier today at the Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino, Apple introduced an upcoming game subscription service called Apple Arcade, which promises to be the home for original games from acclaimed game studios and indie developers, giving them the freedom to create amazing gaming experiences never seen before.

"We are working with some of the most innovative game developers in the world to create over 100 new and exclusive games to play across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Apple Arcade games will be great for families, respect user privacy and will not have ads or require any additional purchases. We think players of all ages are going to love Apple Arcade," said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Will feature more than100 new and exclusive games, coming fall 2019

Apple Arcade promises to offer customers access to more than 100 exclusive and new titles from renowned creators in an all-you-can-play format without ads, ad tracking, or in-game purchases. Apple Arcade also promises the home of game creators as Apple will contribute to the development costs of these original games for its upcoming game subscription service. The company already signed contracts with major game studios like SEGA, Konami, LEGO, and Klei Entertainment.

The Apple Arcade game subscription service will be available in fall 2019 in more than 150 countries, supporting iOS, macOS, and tvOS devices. Customers who subscribe will be able to access the Apple Arcade service from within the App Store app in a new tab that will be enabled in future software updates. Game developers interested in developing games for Apple Arcade should check out their Apple Developer accounts for more information.
