Feral Interactive was happy to announce at the end of last week that the Medieval II: Total War Collection was successfully ported to GNU/Linux operating systems, including SteamOS as well as Mac OS X.

Medieval II: Total War Collection consists of the Medieval II: Total War and Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms games, which were initially released for the Microsoft Windows platform in 2006 and 2007. So after approximately ten long years, they are now finally playable on Linux and Mac.

In Medieval II: Total War, which is a turn-based strategy game with real-time tactically oriented battles, you embark on an empire-building mission of tremendous scale. The player will lead one of 17 units through five centuries of Total War across Europe, Middle East, and North Africa.

System requirements for Linux and Mac

We don't know how many of you will be buying these old games on Linux and Mac, considering the fact that there are numerous other similar titles available on the market with better graphics and support. However, if you're planning on buying Medieval II: Total War Collection, you should know that it is currently on sale for $/€8.99.

The recommended requirements for playing these games on Linux are the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) or SteamOS 2.0 operating systems with either Nvidia, AMD or Intel graphics cards. Nvidia users should have the 352.55 video driver installed, and AMD Radeon users - the Mesa 11.2 driver. Please note that AMD GPUs are not supported on SteamOS 2.0.

On the other hand, Mac users should run OS X 10.11.2 or later, have a 2.4 GHz CPU with 4GB of RAM, an Nvidia, AMD or Intel graphics card with 512MB RAM or more, and at least 32GB of free disk space. A multi-button mouse is also required. Below, you can watch the official launch trailer of Medieval II: Total War Collection for Linux and Mac. Have fun!
