Mariah Carey is a wearer of many hats and she’s now getting ready to add another one to the collection: movie director. For the last few days, there’s been a lot of talk about how she might be making her directorial debut with a Christmas TV movie, and it’s now been confirmed.

Mariah is directing “A Christmas Melody,” in which she will also star opposite Lacey Chabert, aka her favorite actress from her favorite movie “Mean Girls.” As per reports online, when she agreed to direct the flick, this was Mariah’s only condition, that Chabert be cast as lead.

The actress was happy to oblige, unsurprisingly.

“A Christmas Melody” is already in production, with Mariah on set in the director’s chair. The Daily Mail has photos confirming it.

It will be released on the Hallmark Channel on December 19, as part of the Countdown to Christmas series. The same media outlet says that “it tells the story of a music teacher who helps a young girl who is new in town write a song for the community’s Christmas show.”

Mariah is credited on the film’s IMDB page as an actress as well, but there is no mention of what role she will play. My money is on the music teacher, with Chabert being the young girl.

The same online reports also say that Mariah’s music will be heavily featured in the film, which, again, makes complete sense: Mimi is all about Christmas, and all about celebrating it with her own music.
