14 DAY TRIAL // Mariah Carey is currently on vacation with her 2 children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, her usual entourage and Australian billionaire James Packer, who happens to be her new boyfriend. The two have been dating only for a few days, but they’re already talking marriage, it has emerged.
If the name Packer rings a bell, it’s probably because he was also linked to supermodel Miranda Kerr in December 2013. As of a few days, he has been seen spending a lot of time with Mariah, with whom he’s supposedly “obsessed” - so obsessed that he may have even proposed to her.
He asked, she didn’t say no
No word yet if an actual proposal took place, with Packer down on one knee holding a diamond ring in his hand, but TMZ says that the two “are already talking marriage,” even though they have only been dating for a few days.
Apparently, Packer has been carrying a torch for Mariah for some time and even flew to Vegas to see her live and get to meet her and exchange a few words with her.
He has been pursuing her relentlessly ever since, it is said. During Mariah’s vacation, they crossed paths again, thanks to common pal Brett Ratner, and they hit it off instantly.
Here’s the strangest part: “Mariah is open to tying the knot with James,” TMZ says. She even let him understand that it will happen as soon as her divorce from Nick Cannon becomes final.
Mariah “is too good” for Packer
And here’s even the strangest part: even though Mariah has had a rough couple of years, on a personal level, her fans don’t approve of the new man in her life.
The diva made no secret of how much she suffered when her 6-year marriage to Cannon imploded, and though she would never get into specifics, she hinted it would be another while before another man could catch her eye in that way.
Assuming she’s as in love with Packer as he is with her, it would mean she’s finally found that man and she’s happier than she’s been in a while. Her fans should be happy for her.
In reality, they’re anything but that. In comments to the photo she posted with Packer on her Instagram, they made sure to let her know that she was too good, too beautiful and too special to be with someone as “strange”-looking as Packer.
Some even dared to question her motives for rushing into the relationship and suggested that she was maybe running out of money and wanted a sugardaddy to provide for her.
