Today, May 16, 2016, Philip Müller proudly announced the availability of the first Release Candidate (RC1) build of the highly anticipated Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" computer operating system based on Arch Linux.

Early adopters can now jump into the Manjaro Linux 16.06 RC bandwagon and take the upcoming for a test drive on their personal computers, as the team of skilled developers led by Philip Müller have done a great job in the past few months to make the Arch Linux-based distro as stable and reliable as possible.

The final release of Manjaro Linux 16.06, which has been dubbed Daniella, will come this summer as a worthy upgrade for the current stable release of the OS, Manjaro Linux 15.12 "Capella," boasting features like the latest KDE Plasma 5.6 and Xfce 4.12 desktop environments, along with the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel.

"Finaly we are almost there. We are happy to publish our first release candidate of our upcoming stable release we call Daniella," said Philip Müller on behalf of the Manjaro Linux development team. "So please test this release thru and thru and let us know what you think about this release of Daniella. We hope you enjoy this release."

What's new in Manjaro Linux 16.06 RC1

This first Release Candidate build switches the default artwork of the Manjaro Linux 16.06 distribution to a new Vertex-Maia theme for the Xfce edition, and it looks like the KDE flavor just received the latest KDE Applications 16.04 software suite. Manjaro Linux 16.06 RC1 supports a total of twelve kernel series, including the just-announced Linux 4.6 kernel, which can be installed through the updated Manjaro Settings Manager app.

Other interesting features are the new Pamac 4.0 graphical package manager, which switches to a CSD (client-side decorations) design, support for viewing package details by clicking on a package name, support for viewing dependency details by clicking on any dependency in the dependencies view, and support for browsing the available packages during transactions.

Download Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" Release Candidate 1 with the Xfce or KDE desktops, as well as the NetInstall edition via our website. All three flavors are available for both 64-bit and 32-bit computers, but as always, please try to keep in mind that this is still a pre-release version that might include bugs, so do report any issue if you find it and don't use the OS for production work.
