Manjaro Project leader Philip Müller announced the immediate availability for download of the second preview release of the upcoming Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" Arch Linux-based operating system.

Powered by a kernel from the Linux 4.4 LTS (Long Term Support) series, Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" Preview 2 is here to further polish the user experience of the flagship edition, which remains based on the Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, using the new Maia theme (see the screenshot attached for details).

The KDE edition also received the needed attention, and the team managed to upgrade the desktop environment and applications suite to KDE Plasma 5.6 and KDE Applications 15.12.3 respectively, while offering users the same stable and reliable experience as the previous KDE4 editions.

"It took us another month since our first preview to prepare this second preview of our upcoming stable release we call Daniella," said Philip Müller on behalf of the Manjaro development team. "So please test this release thru and thru and let us know what you think about this preview of Daniella."

Linux kernel 4.5 and Pacman 5.0 support, updated Manjaro tools

The second preview build of Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" includes all the Linux kernels that we've already told you about earlier when we reported on the release of the fourteenth update of Manjaro 15.12 (Capella), including the latest Linux kernel 4.5. Moreover, the default package manager has been updated to Pamac 3.2 with support for Pacman 5.0.

Lastly, the Manjaro Settings Manager graphical tool for installing and removing kernels from the system received various small, yet needed improvements, and there's now a KCM (KDE Control Module) to integrate it seamlessly into KDE Plasma 5's System Settings. Download the Manjaro Linux 16.06 "Daniella" Preview 2 Xfce and KDE editions right now via our website and take the distro for a test drive.
