One day after Philip Müller announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the first development build of Manjaro Linux 15.12, Ringo de Kroon from the Manjaro community was happy to introduce to the world Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Pre1.

Following the development of the upcoming Manjaro Linux 15.12 computer operating system, the Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Pre1 (Preview1) Community Edition distribution is now ready for testing, bringing the latest MATE 1.12 desktop environment.

"Here I present the first Manjaro Mate 15.12 preview. On a part, I want to slow it down and follow more Manjaro development. This ISO contains the Mate-Desktop 1.12. This desktop has a lot of improvements under the skin," said Ringo de Kroon in the release announcement.

As expected, this first preview version of Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Community Edition introduces many goodies, among which we can mention better GTK3 support, improved systemd support, as well as natural scrolling and multi-touch support.

Additionally, the distribution also features better multi-monitor support with a revamped user interface that allows you to easily set a primary monitor and the ability to set output names to display settings.

Support for Mac OS X and Windows was dropped

Among other interesting features in Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Pre1, we can mention support for displaying vendor and model information for various hardware devices in the Power applet, an improved session manager, and various usability enhancements.

Moreover, the MATE desktop environment was tweaked to listen to the org.gnome.SessionManager namespace, support for the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating system was dropped, and several translations were updated.

Many of those annoying bugs reported by users since the previous version of the distribution were fixed as well, along with numerous under-the-hood improvements and updated packages.

If you're brave enough to take Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Pre1 Community Edition for a test drive, you can download the Live ISO images for either 32-bit or 64-bit computers right now from Softpedia, just don't install it on production machines.
