A number of other packages have been upgraded as well

Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 has received a fresh update pack and the developers have upgraded some of the supported Linux kernels, a number of important packages have been updated, and some important fixes have been implemented.

Manjaro is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, but it's not following the same release model. Instead of being a rolling release distro that gets upgraded all the time, the Manjaro devs have decided to make intermediary releases and publish big patches that even bring new features. It's a rather unique way of upgrading the operating system, but Manjaro is not a distro that does things by the book.

This is the sixth update in the series and we're past the half-way point. Previous versions of Manjaro Linux had around 10 of these patches, so it's likely that we are not too far away from the next stable version,it might just be 0.9.0 (it's already in development for many months.

What's new in this latest update for Manjaro Linux

"Due a special request by Netrunner-OS we released it on Sunday. With this we updated most of our kernels (incl. fixing 4.1 for AMD i686), bumped VirtualBox to 5.0, released Kodi 15.0, gcc 5.2, pushed out some i3, gnome, mate, openjdk, python updates, fixes to pacman and chromium. As regular, this update includes also regular Archlinux upstream fixes (Sun Jul 26 18:06:47 CEST 2015). It is always good to check for updated packages, even we don’t notify you about them," say the devs.

The announcement mentions that the following Linux kernels are now available in the repositories: 3.10.84, 3.12.44, 3.13.11.23, 3.14.48, 3.16.7.15, 3.18.19, 3.19.8.4, 4.0.9 (EOL), and 4.1.3. If you already have the system installed and you perform regular updates, then you don't really have to do anything extra. You can download Manjaro 0.8.13 right now from Softpedia and upgrade your system through the regular channels.
