A new major update has been released for Manjaro

Manjaro 0.8.13 has received its eighth update, and it looks like developers have been quick to add some of the newest packages that landed in the previous week.

Manjaro 0.8.13 is the latest and most advanced version available right now (official, that is), so it stands to reason that the developers want to make sure that it remains that way. Basically, that is why these updates exist and they are made available in such quick succession. In fact, the previous update for Manjaro 0.8.13 arrived only last week, and now we have a new major one.

To be fair, some pretty important things happened last week, including the launch of LibreOffice 5.0. As you would expect, this version is now available in the official repositories, along with a few other packages. Other improvements include some of the latest kernels and even an RC for the 4.2 branch.

Manjaro 0.8.13 is going strong

Manjaro is a distribution based on Arch Linux, so it prides itself on the fact that it can provide the latest updates for most of the packages. It's not always the best solution, as problems can occur with new updates, but many users prefer this nonetheless.

"With this we updated once again Octopi, systemd to v224, menulibre to 2.0.7, LibreOffice to 5.0, our keyring, some of our kernels to the latest point-releases, added linux42 to our kernel family, pushed out some python updates and released mhwd 0.5.6 with some changes to the Intel driver configs. Now we will default back to ‘UXA’. Users may need to edit their acceleration settings within the ‘/etc/X11/mhwd.d/intel.conf’ file. As regular, this update includes also regular Archlinux upstream fixes (Sun Aug 9 19:56:44 CEST 2015)," reads the official announcement.

The supported Linux kernels are: 3.10.85, 3.12.46, 3.13.11.24, 3.14.49, 3.16.7.15, 3.18.20, 3.19.8.4, 4.0.9 (EOL), 4.1.4, and 4.2 RC5. As usual, you can download Manjaro 0.8.13 right now from Softpedia and upgrade via the regular channels.
