Today, Manjaro project leader Philip Müller has announced the general availability of the sixth update for the stable Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) series of operating systems.

The February 2 update for Manjaro Linux 15.12 is here to mainly patch a zero-day vulnerability in the Linux kernel packages that the distro currently supports. Among them are Linux 3.10.96, Linux 3.12.53 LTS, Linux 3.13.11.33, Linux 3.14.60 LTS, Linux 3.16.7.23, Linux 3.18.26 LTS, Linux 3.19.8.13, Linux 4.1.16 LTS, Linux 4.2.8.2, Linux 4.3.4, Linux 4.4.0, and Linux 4.5 RC1.

"The internet was full with the Zero-Day linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2016-0728. We already had patched our default Bellatrix and Capella kernel. With this, all our kernels are now patched against this vulnerability," said Philip Müller on behalf of the Manjaro Community Team.

Linux kernel 4.5 is now supported

Just in case you haven't noticed in the first paragraph above, the Manjaro devs have managed to add initial support for the Linux 4.5 kernel, allowing early adopters to play with the first RC (Release Candidate) build. However, some of the most important core components and applications have been updated to their latest versions at the moment of writing this article.

Additionally, the default repositories synchronized with the upstream Arch Linux ones as of January 31, 2016, bringing users updates like Mozilla Firefox 44.0, KDE Plasma 5.5.4, Oracle VirtualBox 5.0.14, Pale-Moon 26.0, and many more. The Python, LightDM, Haskell, SPL, ZFS, and Deepin packages have been updated as well, and the Calamares graphical installer has just gotten its seventh Beta release.

As usual with any new stable update, Manjaro Linux 15.12. (Capella) users are urged to fire up the package manager and apply the Manjaro Update 2016-02-02 (stable) update as soon as possible. The new Pacman 5.0 package manager will soon be added in the default software repositories of the distribution, but not before it becomes stable in Arch Linux.
