The Manjaro Community announced, through the voice of Stefano Capitani, the maintainer of Manjaro-Budgie, that a new version of the Budgie flavor has been released and is now ready for download.

The Manjaro Budgie flavor is relatively new, and it's been around for about six months. Before a separate operating system was made available, the Budgie desktop was uploaded to the Manjaro repositories. It was the first distro, besides Solus, to provide it. Developers have since built an OS around this new desktop environment, and it looks like it is having quite an impact.

The Budgie desktop environment uses parts of the GNOME stack, and it's developed by the Solus team. They have big plans for their desktop, including a new major update that should land in the coming months. Until then, Manjaro Linux will integrate Budgie 8.3, with some modifications so that it looks more in the lines of Manjaro.

Manjaro Budgie 15.11 is here

The Budgie developers are in contact with the Manjaro team, and they even made some adjustments in the past so that it works better on this OS. This is not something that you usually see in the Linux community, and it should be done on a much larger scale.

"The Manjaro Community is proud to present our new Budgie Desktop release. Budgie is designed with the modern user in mind, it focuses on simplicity and elegance. A huge advantage for the Budgie desktop is that it is not a fork of another project, but written from scratch with integration in mind. It tightly integrates with the GNOME stack, employing underlying technologies to offer an alternative desktop experience. Budgie can now emulate the look and feel of the GNOME 2 desktop, optionally, via a setting in the panel preferences," read the notes from the devs.

According to the changelog, the Linux kernel 4.1.x series LTS has been integrated, the Evopop Icon and gtk-theme have been added, full support for AUR has been implemented, and Calamares installers, Thus and CLI are implemented by default.

The latest Manjaro Budgie build is now available for download from Softpedia. It works flawlessly in virtual machines, so it's really easy to test.
