A new update for Manjaro 15.12 has been released

The Manjaro developers have pushed out the door yet another update for Manjaro 15.12 (Capella), and it brings a lot of important fixes.

This is the fifth update for Manjaro 15.12 (Capella), and it looks like the developers will continue to provide this packs for the coming months. If the past is any indication, we'll probably get about 5 or 6 update packages if everything goes according to plan.

Manjaro 15.12 (Capella) is already a successful release, so upgrades only serve to improve the operating system. The current edition is not a major one, but it does pack quite a few changes. In any case, users have been advised to upgrade as soon possible and not to wait for the prompt to show up.

What's new in the latest Manjaro 15.12 (Capella) update

One of the things that got considerable attention during the past week was the famous Zero-Day Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2016-0728, which was corrected really fast by the developers. With this update, the issue has also been fixed in some of the older kernels with the help of a little backporting.

"The internet was full with the Zero-Day Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2016-0728. We already had patched our default Bellatrix and Capella kernel With this update we additionally patched 3.10, 3.14, 3.19, 4.2, and 4.3 kernel series. We are working on some settings packages, so it would be possible to install our desktop-configurations on your already running system. This will also reduce the files the overlays of our manjaro-iso-profiles," developers wrote in the official announcement.

They have also confirmed that the recently released PulseAudio 8.0 package has also been integrated and that the fixes from Arch Linux have been integrated up until Jan 24 10:08:52 CET 2016.
