A new major update has been released for Manjaro

Manjaro developers have just announced that the sixth update for Manjaro 15.09 (Bellatrix) has arrived, and it is a glorious one.

The bulk of the new update covers the release of the MATE 1.12 desktop environment, and since Arch Linux got the new version just hours after the official launch, the Manjaro developers simply could not ignore it.

They had to get the new version in the hands of their users, and there is no better way to do that than by just pushing a new update pack out the door.

The first release of the new Manjaro 15.09 (Bellatrix) arrived back in September, and now we are already counting six update packs. The previous version of Manjaro had gathered around 10 or 12 update packs before the devs moved on to new builds, but that’s really a definitive metric.

For now, the Manjaro team is already working on the 15.12 version, and that might be a good indication.

Manjaro now has the latest MATE and new Linux kernels

“We are happy to announce our sixth update for Manjaro 15.09 (Bellatrix)! With this we updated some of our kernels, Firefox, mate, calligra, LibreOffice Steam and did bunch of rebuilds against libsodium, icu, poppler. Also we ship the usual Archlinux upstream fixes (Sun Nov 8 08:15:53 CET 2015). It is always good to check for updated packages, even we don’t notify you about them,” noted the Manjaro devs.

We covered the launch of MATE 1.12 in detail, and it’s a big release, with a lot of new features and changes. Also, the Linux kernels supported at the moment are the following: 3.10.92, 3.12.50, 3.13.11.29, 3.14.56, 3.16.7.19, 3.18.24, 3.19.8.9, 4.1.12, 4.2.5, and 4.3.
