A rare US prototype of Shanghai III is now supported

The MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) development team announced today the release and immediate availability of MAME 0.184, a new maintenance update that adds support for new arcade games and other improvements.

Among the improvements implemented in the MAME 0.184 release, we can mention emulation improvements to the Agat-7 Apple II and Famicom clones, various enhancements to the BBC and PC software lists, as well as a much faster -romident verb with support for identifying ROMs for emulated slot devices.

"There aren’t a huge number of new working machines in this release, but there are some significant improvements. Thanks to kazblox, MAME now emulates some of the peculiarities of Famicom clone hardware, and thanks to shattered, emulation of the Agat-7 Apple II clone is improved. Peter Ferrie provided a superior Apple II language card implementation," reads today's announcement.

Super Crowns Golf and Shanghai III arcade games now supported

MAME 0.184 also improves the -verifyroms option to support more devices, as well as to be able to verify ROMs for a subset of devices and drivers. Another component that received attention in this maintenance update is the -listxml output, which is now up to 30% faster and includes all linked devices.

A bunch of cool arcade games are now supported in MAME, including a rare US prototype of Shanghai III, the Japanese release of Radical Radial, the world release of Super Crowns Golf, a German version of Raiden II, bootlegs of both Phoenix and Bomber Man, as well as a special Flashgirl version with the Kyugo logo.

Other than that, MAME 0.184 comes with support for various new chess computers and a bunch of new Aristocrat Mark V gambler sets. Those who are interested in TI-8x graphing calculators can now emulate either TI-85 or TI-82 models. You can download the MAME 0.184 source archive right now from our website.
