Today, June 23, Apple started seeding the second Beta release of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) operating system for Macintosh computers to developers worldwide. OS X 10.11 Beta 2 is now available in your Apple Developer account, where you can find all the information you need to get started and install it.

The new build has been tagged 15A204h and comes two weeks after the release of the first Beta, which was announced immediately after Apple's keynote at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) 2015 event that took place between June 8-12 in San Francisco, USA, at the Moscone West Center.

We remind everyone that the OS X 10.11 operating system promises to bring many interesting new features to Mac users worldwide, such as the powerful Metal API for gaming, Split View functionality, new gestures, Force Touch APIs for Safar, tabbed email composing, App Extensions for the Photos app, as well as the ability to pin tabs in Safari.

Supported Mac computers for OS X 10.11 El Capitan

According to the official release notes for OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 2 build 15A204h, which can be found as a PDF file on your Apple Developer account, the following Mac computers are supported at the moment: iMac (Mid 2007 or newer), MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer), MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer), MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer), Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer), and Xserve (Early 2009).

However, please be aware of the fact that this is a pre-release version of OS X 10.11, not a final product, which means that it has many rough edges, and that it is not recommended for production environments. Also, please try to keep in mind that you won't be able to revert to a previous version of the OS X operating system once you've upgraded to OS X 10.11.
