14 DAY TRIAL // After three Beta builds, the final version of the fifth maintenance update for the stable OS X 10.10 Yosemite computer operating system for Mac hardware was officially released a few days ago.
According to the release notes posted by Apple along with the update notification in the Mac App Store, OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite brings with it improvements to the Mail app so that it works better with certain email servers.
Additionally, the Photos app has been updated with better support for importing video stream from a GoPro camera, and users can now play Windows Media (WMV and WMA) files using the built-in QuickTime Player app.
Like any other maintenance release, Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite comes with various security enhancements, as well as many other small fixes, all designed to keep your Mac computers reliable, stable, and compatible with the latest hardware.
Here's how to update to Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite
The OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite update is available to users worldwide via the Mac App Store application, so all you have to do to update your OS X 10.10.4 installation is open the Mac App Store, go to the Updates tab, and wait a few seconds for the list of updates to be refreshed.
You should see the OS X Update 10.10.5 entry, so make sure that you click on the "Update" button in front of it. Then, click the "Download & Restart" button on the pop-up dialog, and wait for the new Yosemite update to be downloaded and installed.
Please note that your Mac computer will be automatically restarted once the OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite update has been successfully downloaded in order for the update to be correctly applied. Do not turn off your computer during the entire update process!
