Now, I am not even by far a fan of iPods and even less of all sorts of audio gear manufacturers that have become diehard of these players. There's nothing wrong with them (both player and docks), but it just feels like there are way too many docking stations, iPod speakers, portable docks, portable stuff, portable X-stuff and so on. Despite all of the above, it is with true pleasure that I read about the mStation Tower: one really serious iPod dock and charger and speaker system and pretty much whatever you could ask from the small player.

The mStation
Tower represents one of the most serious docks in the field: no more crappy "systems" actually consisting of a 1" fullrange driver and the like. The mStation Tower packs a three-way architecture, in the shape of two tall towers, united by a center console housing the subwoofer and the proper dock. Everything rests on a large baseplate and by all means, the thing looks great, 'avantgarde-like' great, I'd say.

The driver complement runs with a 5.25" subwoofer, dual 2" midranges and twin 1" tweeters, all packing a massive (for this kind of gear) 60W RMS power. The mStation Tower boasts a frequency range between 50Hz and 20kHz, way closer to the "fullrange" concept than most of the other similar units and promising a far better listening experience. Extensive playback controls have been placed on a stylish remote control that will let you fully operate the whole system.

iPod, other players, USB: everything's connected

You can use the mStation Tower to connect to innumerable other audio signal sources by means of a mini USB connector and a 3.5mm jack plug so complete freedom and interactivity are guaranteed. The mStation Tower is already shipping as has so far received quite some neat reviews. This aluminum structure sells for around $300, comfort and listening pleasure included. And yes, it syncs up with iTunes!
