Audio quality of the video is impressive to say the least

Lumia 950 XL is a monster in terms of hardware specifications, coming with a powerful CPU, above-average camera, and high-quality display that makes watching movies or playing games a real pleasure.

And when it comes to video recording in low light conditions, the device doesn’t seem to disappoint (although the result can vary, as we’ve told you in our Lumia 950 XL review).

YouTubeer David Hilliard used his Lumia 950 XL to record a song at a recent Metallica concert, and the result is impressive to say the least.

As you can see for yourselves by clicking the play button below, the video quality is not the best, given the fact that he wasn’t in the front row, but the audio is just… wow. The microphones on the Lumia managed to do a great job and capture the sound in the best possible quality, with some people even believing that the recording was made with an external mic.

“The video is straight from the phone. No post production,” Hilliard said.

It’s the software, not the hardware, that needs improvements

As we’ve said already several times, the Lumia 950 XL is a great device with awesome specs, but the one that needs to be improved is the software side.

Windows 10 Mobile still doesn’t feel like a finished product, despite the fact that Microsoft has delivered several updates in the last couple of months. The operating system is expected to see daylight sometime this month, and more enhancements are in the pipeline, but it remains to be seen if the OS will provide the performance and reliability that users expect.

Lumia 950 XL certainly deserves software updates, especially given the hardware hiding underneath the case. And with the proper updates, it can truly become a competitor to high-end Android devices and Apple’s iPhone.
