The smartphone might be canceled at any time though

Microsoft is about to debut three new Lumia smartphones in the next couple of months, but they will not cover all price ranges.

The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are meant for the high-end market while the Lumia 550 that should hit shelves in December is a budget-friendly smartphone.

However, the Redmond-based company plans to launch a mid-range smartphone powered by Windows 10 Mobile sometime next year. The so-called Lumia 650 has been rumored for several months now, but Microsoft has yet to confirm the device.

A few days ago a press render of the alleged Lumia 650 leaked online, which proves the device is real and has a great chance of being released on the market soon.

The said picture did not come with any details on the phone's specs, but WindowsCentral's Daniel Rubino claims he has some inside information about the Lumia 650, or whatever its name.

A not-so-exciting device that could prolong Windows 10 Mobile's life

According to him, Lumia 650 will sport a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display and it will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. Also, the smartphone will feature a 5-megapixel camera in the front for great selfies.

This is all the info we have on the Lumia 650 specs for the moment, but we expect more details to emerge in the coming months.

One other thing revealed by the cited source is the fact that Microsoft plans to announce the Lumia 650 in February, probably during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 trade fair.

Still, it's worth mentioning that Microsoft might cancel the Lumia 650 at any time if the upcoming Lumia smartphones don't sell well enough.

Even though the Lumia 650 won't be a very interesting device, we hope that it will at least help expand Windows Phone market share.
