The ledge was 7 floors from the ground, reports say

Love might be grand and all that, but it can also get people into all sorts of trouble. Earlier this week, a man in China learned this the hard way when he found himself spending a night atop a ledge to avoid running into his sweetheart's husband.

Now that the story's all over the news, however, it's safe to assume the illicit romance is no longer classified information. Oh well, better luck keeping the secret next time.

It was all a bit like a movie scene

Apparently, the Casanova wannabe went to visit his secret lover while her husband was at work. They spent the afternoon together, but unfortunately, the husband returned earlier than anticipated.

Desperate not to get caught, the woman convinced the man to leave her apartment out a window and take shelter on a ledge 7 floors from the ground. Afraid of a confrontation himself, the man followed her instructions.

Unfortunately, he remained stuck on the ledge, hiding between two air-conditioning units, all throughout the night. It was only the next day, when the husband left for work, that he was rescued.

On the bright side, it looks like, before leaving the woman's apartment, he got to put on his clothes. Otherwise, he would have spent the night staring at the sky wearing nothing but his wounded pride.

The man was rescued by firefighters

Word has it that, when he jumped out the window and onto the ledge, the man was a wee inebriated. Hence his courage. By morning, however, he was quite panicked, Mirror reports.

Since she couldn't simply pull him back inside on her own, the woman had to alert local authorities, who sent a crew of firefighters to help get the man off the ledge.

“He had apparently been drinking a fair amount, and that probably gave him the courage to jump onto the ledge,” explained a spokesperson for the local fire brigade in the city of Shishi.

It took a while, but firefighters eventually managed to rescue the man. He didn't suffer any injuries while sleeping in the great outdoors, and so he was allowed to go home.
