Logi BLOK, the first product following the Logi re-branding

Logitech has recently announced that it has finished an ample process of rebranding itself, even changing its name to "Logi," through which it hopes to distance itself from the image of a tech-only oriented company, and turn into a company with a universal appeal.

Although the re-branding message has been transmitted far and wide, with acclaimed designer professionals at its helm coming straight from Nokia, Logitech remained vague about the sorts of products the company will sell next. Apparently, the new Logi brand will be reflected first in the new Logi BLOK cases for the iPad Air and the iPad Mini tablets.

Even if Logitech has built iPad and iPhone accessories in the past, the new cases are claimed to be drop proof, covering the iPads round shapes with sharp corners, and are rated to handle impacts from a height of six feet for accidental drops. It also has easy-access ports for power, volume, charging and headphones on the sides of the case. In addition, technical specifications mention having a sleep/wake magnet, a closing magnet and a camera hole. Available colors will come in black, teal/blue and red/violet.

Colorful, re-branded Logi

The fresh, practical design of the new Logi cases seems based on building colorful, simple products with enough protection material to protect your device's most sensitive part without encumbering it too much. Logitech wants simple and effective products that push a bit further beyond the tech market standard.

Although the design is pretty standard as far as tablet cases go, it's a good example of modest and effective brand sampling where the consumer sees firsthand how a new product will evolve under a new brand without the company having to take enormous risks by impressing the world with some pompous and expensive product that could be a financial liability in the end.

The new Logi iPad case will be priced around $40 up to $130. The most expensive model will have a kickstand and a detachable keyboard. The new cases will launch in August, ready for the new line of iPads.
