14 DAY TRIAL // Today, April 12, 2016, renowned Linux kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the release of the first maintenance build of the Linux 4.5 kernel series.
We've been asked several times in the last couple of weeks when Linux kernel 4.5 will get its first point release, version 4.5.1. So here it is, and just by looking at the appended shortlog, we can tell that it's a big one, bringing changes to a total of 230 files, with 2,358 insertions and 1,265 deletions.

Here's what's new in Linux kernel 4.5.1
According to the diff from Linux kernel 4.5, this first point release adds multiple improvements to the x86, s390, ARM, SuperH (SH), Xtensa, IA64, AArch64 (ARM64), and ARC hardware architectures. There are also a couple of crypto and mm changes, fixes to the FUSE, JBD2, NFS, and OCFS2 filesystems, as well as numerous updates to the sound drivers, and various core kernel enhancements.
As usual, several drivers have been updated, among which we can mention ACPI, Bluetooth, CLK, crypto, EDAC, GPIO, GPU (mostly Radeon), HID, InfiniBand, MD, MMC, networking (mostly wireless), NVDIMM, PCI, PINCTRL, SCSI, thermal, TTY, USB, and watchdog.
Linux kernel 4.5.1 is now available for download from our website, or directly from the kernel.org site, and it's a recommended update for anyone using a GNU/Linux operating system powered by a kernel from the 4.5 stable series. Please check your distribution's software repositories in the coming days for the new version.
