The Linux 4.4 kernel branch is a long-term support (LTS) one, used in many stable GNU/Linux operating systems, including the popular Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), as well as the upcoming Solus 1.2, for which we will have a first-look story in the coming days. Therefore, Linux kernel 4.4.13 LTS is here to add more stability and reliability to these distros, as it fixes numerous bugs and updates various drivers.

Here's what's new in Linux kernel 4.4.13 LTS
Looking at the diff from the previous maintenance release, Linux 4.4.12, we can notice that Linux kernel 4.4.13 LTS includes multiple improvements to the XFS file system and the MIPS instruction set architecture. There are also the usual driver updates, for things like GPU, hwmon, V4L2, MFD, networking (multiple updated Realtek and Atheros wireless drivers), PCI, PINCTRL, SCSI, and Xen.
Other changes include fixes for the ARM, x86, and PowerPC (PPC) hardware architectures, small improvements to the AFFS and EXT4 filesystems, and various other minor sound and networking stack enhancements. In numbers, Linux kernel 4.4.13 LTS changes a total of 125 files, with 788 insertions and 376 deletions, so it's wise to update as soon as it lands in the main software repos of your distribution.
