After the release of Linux kernel 4.5.4 and Linux kernel 4.1.24 LTS, Greg Kroah-Hartman informed the community about the general availability of the tenth update of the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel series.

Linux kernel 4.4.10 LTS is here exactly one week after the release of the previous maintenance version, Linux 4.4.9 LTS, announced by Greg Kroah-Hartman on May 4, 2016, and it looks like it changes a total of 74 files, with 451 insertions and 174 deletions, at least according to the appended shortlog and the diff from Linux kernel 4.4.9 LTS.

"I'm announcing the release of the 4.4.10 kernel. All users of the 4.4 kernel series must upgrade," said Greg Kroah-Hartman. "The updated 4.4.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-4.4.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary."

Here's what's new in Linux kernel 4.4.10 LTS

New things in Linux kernel 4.4.10 LTS include updates to the ARM, x86, PowerPC, and Arc hardware architectures, networking stack improvements, especially for the mac80211 subsystem, netfilter packet filtering framework, and B.A.T.M.A.N. Advanced routing protocol, minor mm and core kernel changes, as well as lots of updated drivers for ACPI, ATA, CLK, CPUIdle, GPU (mostly Intel i915 and AMDGPU), HID, iiO, InfiniBand, MD, MFD, Wireless, NVMEM, SCSI, SoC, USB, and Xen.

Linux 4.4 is the latest and most advanced long-term supported (LTS) kernel series, already adopted by numerous GNU/Linux operating systems, including the popular Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), so the new Linux 4.4.10 version should land soon in the main software repositories of those distributions. Therefore, you need to update your system as soon as possible. OS vendors can download the Linux kernel 4.4.10 LTS sources right now via our website or directly from kernel.org.
