14 DAY TRIAL // After announcing the release of Linux kernel 4.7.1, Linux kernel 4.4.18 LTS, and Linux kernel 4.6.7, which marks the end of the Linux 4.6 series, Greg Kroah-Hartman has informed the community about the availability of Linux kernel 3.14.76 LTS.
As you might have guessed, the Linux 3.14 kernel branch is a long-term supported one, also known as LTS, which means that it receives updates and security fixes for a couple of years, compared with normal kernel releases. In this case, Linux 3.14 LTS will get support until January 2017, and the latest maintenance update, version 3.14.76, is here to change a total of 37 files changed, with 348 insertions and 197 deletions.
"I'm announcing the release of the 3.14.76 kernel. All users of the 3.14 kernel series must upgrade," says Greg Kroah-Hartman. Here's what's new in Linux kernel 3.14.76 LTS
According to the appended shortlog and the diff from the previous maintenance release, Linux kernel 3.14.75 LTS, the new update adds minor improvements to the MIPS, x86, and ARM hardware architectures. It also enhances the core networking support by adding IPv4, IrDA, and Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) fixes, updates the InfiniBand, SCSI, and USB drivers, and improves the support for EXT4 and FUSE filesystems.
