After releasing Linux kernel 4.5.1 and Linux kernel 4.4.7 LTS, renowned kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman had the pleasure of announcing the release of the Linux 3.14.66 LTS kernel.

Linux kernel 3.14.66 LTS is the sixty-sixth maintenance build in the long-term supported series, and according to the appended shortlog, which also includes the diff from the previous point release, version 3.14.65, it changes a total of 83 files, with 566 insertions and 170 deletions. Most of the changes are, of course, updates to various drivers.

"I'm announcing the release of the 3.14.66 kernel. All users of the 3.14 kernel series must upgrade," said Greg Kroah-Hartman. "The updated 3.14.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.14.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary."

Here's what's new in Linux kernel 3.14.66 LTS

Among the changes implemented in the Linux kernel 3.14.66 LTS update, we can notice several improvements to the x86 and Xtensa hardware architectures, a few fixes for the JBD2, OCFS2, and XFS filesystems, as well as various core kernel, scripts, and KVM enhancements. The sound stack also received some significant improvements.

As expected, there are also updated drivers, and it looks like Linux kernel 3.14.66 LTS includes updates for the Bluetooth, crypto, EDAC, HID, MD, media, networking, PCI, SCSI, TTY, USB, and watchdog.
