Immediately after informing the community of the release of Linux kernel 4.4.6 LTS and Linux kernel 3.14.65 LTS, kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman published details about the availability of Linux kernel 3.10.101 LTS.

Just last week, we announced to our readers that the long-term supported Linux 3.10 kernel series, which Google employs for its widely used Android 6.0.x Marshmallow mobile operating system, reached its hundredth maintenance release, and today we would like to tell you all about the hundred-and-first point release of Linux 3.10 LTS.

According to the diff from Linux kernel 3.10.100 LTS, the 3.10.101 build is a small one, changing a total of 26 files, with 552 insertions and 214 deletions. Among the changes, we can notice small improvements to the PowerPC (PPC) and x86 hardware architectures, such as a dedotify fix for Binutils 2.26 or higher on PPC systems.

"I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.101 kernel. All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade," said Greg Kroah-Hartman. "The updated 3.10.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.10.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary."

EFIvarFS gets updated

Furthermore, Linux kernel 3.10.101 LTS contains an updated EFIvarFS (U)EFI variable file system, bringing immutable entries by default, GUID inclusion in the variable validation list, UTF-8 variable name validation tests, as well as ucs2_as_utf8.

The appended shortlog also contains information about a few mac80211 and ASoC fixes, KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) improvements, and revert of the "crypto: af_alg - Disallow bind/setkey/... after accept(2)" change. Linux kernel 3.10.101 LTS is now available for download from the kernel.org website or via Softpedia.
