LFA Build 160419 is a 64-bit Live Linux OS for the masses

Today, April 19, 2016, GNU/Linux developer Arne Exton informs us about the immediate availability of a new build of his Linux for All (LFA) Live Linux kernel-based operating system.

Built on top of the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, Linux for All (LFA) build 160419 offers users an out-of-the-box and lightweight desktop experience based on the Fluxbox window manager and the well-known Cairo-Dock dock-like application.

The current release of LFA also borrows some elements from the Debian GNU/Linux 8.4 "Jessie" operating system, and it is only available for 64-bit computers. According to Mr. Exton, the 160419 build unveiled today is a total rebuild, which means that nothing was kept from the old LFA system.

"One of my previous versions of LFA (build 141120) had four desktop environments installed. Namely Unity (Ubuntu), LXDE, Razor-qt and XBMC. LFA build 160419 uses only Fluxbox as window manager and Cairo-Dock as desktop interface," says Arne Exton in the release announcement for LFA Build 160419.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.4 LTS

As expected, Linux for All (LFA) Build 160419 is an up-to-date operating system, as it includes only the latest versions of the pre-installed applications, and it is powered by the same kernel package that is available in the current build of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), Linux kernel 4.4 LTS.

Linux for All (LFA) Build 160419 is available for download right via our website, it is distributed as a Live ISO-hybrid image that you can write on either a USB flash drive or a DVD disc, and as mentioned before, it only includes packages optimized for the 64-bit (amd64) hardware architecture. Please note that Linux for All (LFA) will also be an LTS (Long Term Support) operating system, supported for five years.
