The major LibreOffice 6.0 release is coming next week, and The Document Foundation's Mike Saunders talked with members of the community to get their perspectives on LibreOffice's new design.

While it won't bring a massive redesign, as most users may have expected, LibreOffice 6.0 will include a few noteworthy design changes, including new table styles, new gradients, updated motif/splash screen, improved Notebookbars, menu and toolbar improvements, and the Elementary icons.

Two variants of the Notebookbar are implemented in the LibreOffice 6.0 office suite, namely Groupedbar Full for Writer, Calc and Impress, as well as Tabbed Compact for Writer. You can view them in the gallery attached below, along with the new Elementary icons, which we believe will make LibreOffice prettier.

When asked what are their favorite new features in LibreOffice 6.0, the design team said "the revamped customization dialog, and the special character dialog with quick access from the toolbar. In addition, there’s the ability to rotate images to arbitrary degrees, and many other small improvements."

LibreOffice 6.0 is coming January 31, 2018

Next week, on January 31, the LibreOffice 6.0 office suite will be officially released for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows, and it promises to be the biggest release since LibreOffice 5.0, which was announced two and a half years ago.

Just yesterday we reported that LibreOffice 6.0 comes with a set of new open-source libraries that lets users export ODT documents to the EPUB3 format, as well as to import documents and templates from well-known document processing tools like AbiWord, Microsoft Publisher, PageMaker, and QuarkXPress.

More of its LibreOffice 6.0's awesome new features will be unveiled next week, so stay tuned for more details as The Document Foundation prepares a big announcement with screenshots and all the juicy details you need to know about the new features and improvements.
